Council Elections

Monash University Council is the governing body of Monash University. Under the Monash University Act 2009, Council has the general direction and superintendence of the University.

The Act provides for members to be elected to Council by and from the University’s staff and students. The Monash University (Council) Regulations provide for the election of one staff member and one student member.

Council has resolved that an election be conducted for one staff member and one student member of Council, in accordance with the Monash University (Council) Regulations and the Monash University Council Election Procedure. A copy of the resolution passed by Council is available here.

Nominations for the Monash University Council election 2026 have now closed. As more nominations were received than positions available, elections will be held for Student and Staff positions on Council. Candidate details, together with their candidate statements, are available via the links below.

Voting will open at 10.00am (AEST) on Tuesday 25 August 2026 and close at 5.00pm (AEST) on Tuesday 1 September 2026.

Eligible voters will receive a personalised voting link via their Monash email account. Further information about the voting process is available in the Council Election Procedure.
