University Legislation

Monash University operates under the Monash University Act 2009 (Vic). This Act replaced the Monash University Act 1958 (Vic), which created Monash University. The Act sets out the objects, powers and functions of Monash University.  Without this Act, Monash University would not exist.

The Monash University Council is the governing body of Monash University, and has the power to make statutes and regulations.  The Monash University Council has authorised the Vice-Chancellor and the Academic Board to also make regulations.
