Our commitment

Aligned with Monash University’s principles, the Faculty of Information Technology is committed to working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Indigenous Elders, organisations and communities to:

  • Advance a human-rights approach to digital equity for Indigenous peoples.

  • Strengthen education in Indigenous digital equity, data sovereignty and ethical digital practice.

  • Support more Indigenous students and staff to become IT providers, educators, researchers and leaders.

  • Build Indigenous-led research and research capacity guided by emerging Indigenous Research Protocols.

  • Integrate Indigenous knowledges across our teaching and develop an Indigenous Teaching Materials Repository.

  • Foster community-driven partnerships that reflect the priorities and aspirations of Indigenous peoples.

Indigenous framework

The refreshed Monash Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Framework 2019–2030 aligns Indigenous education at Monash with current policy and is grounded in self-determination. By 2030, it will reflect over 75 years of Monash’s contribution to Indigenous higher education in Australia.
