Dr Luke Greenacre and Bianca Vallentine co-led a team of interdisciplinary researchers to partner with Ian Trust, Director of Kununurra-based Indigenous not-for-profit organisation, Wunan Foundation. Ian's vision was to develop an app to better connect his community.

In this project, the team spent several months working with local Kununurra community groups and the not-for-profit sector in East Kimberley, Western Australia to better understand the needs of the sector. What emerged was the need for a business plan and alpha design for a digital platform (e.g. app, web tool etc.) that provides remote communities with a locally managed solution for coordinating community goals and strengthening social capital.

The web app, known as 'Kununurra Connect', facilitates connections between community members, enables access to local services, and supports collaboration on local initiatives.

Designed with a sustainable business and funding model that requires minimal human resources, the platform will enhance self-sufficiency and long-term viability.
