Acoustic recordings

Acoustic recorders are strategically installed around the lake and wetland capturing sounds from wildlife including birds, frogs, bats and aquatic life. A total of six Wildlife Acoustic SM4 acoustic recorders are installed around the reserve. Below you can view a map and description of the location of each recorder.

White-striped Freetail Bat(Tadarida australis)Kookaburra(Dacelo sp.), Spotted Pardalote(Pardalotus punctatus), Pink Robin(Petroica rodinogaster), Buff-banded Rail(Gallirallus philippensis), Common Froglet(Crinia signifera),Southern Brown Tree Frog(Litoria ewingii)are only a sample of the species that have been recorded at the wetland. Species in urban areas have to communicate through rumbling traffic or other anthropogenic noise pollution (low frequencies), so calling song types will vary in terms of duration, frequency, tone, rhythm and complexity. Call surveys allow us to assess the presence/absence and diversity of the wildlife present in the Reserve.
