In this Zoom session, specifically for students, Dr Ruth Higgins discussed the possible lives and locations of a career following the study of law, including how to balance practice and academic work, the ways in which they complement each other, and the different attractions and disciplines of each.

Dr Ruth Higgins SC is a leading commercial silk practising in Sydney.  She is currently included in Best Lawyers, Chambers Global, Doyle's Guide and Who’s Who Legal. Ruth won the Glasgow University medal in law, completed a doctorate at Balliol College, Oxford, and has been a Visiting Fellow at New College and Harris Manchester College, Oxford. Her publications include The Moral Limits of Law (OUP, 2004). She is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law, an Assistant General Editor of the Australian Law Journal, Treasurer of the NSW Bar Association, and a director of the Law Council of Australia.
