CLARS Presents at the GCGC in Seoul

CLARS Member, Dr Tim Bowley and CLARS Director, Professor Jennifer Hill, recently presented their paper, at the 2023 Global Corporate Governance Colloquium (GCGC) in Seoul, Korea.

The Global Corporate Governance Colloquia (GCGC) is a global initiative designed to bring together the best research in law, economics, and finance relating to corporate governance. An annual conference is held at the 12 leading universities in the Americas, Asia and Europe, which comprise the GCGC. These institutions are: Columbia University, Harvard University, Imperial College London, National University of Singapore, Peking University, Stanford University, Stockholm University, University of Oxford, University of Tokyo, Yale University and Goethe University Frankfurt (Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE and DFG LawFin Center) and, of course, the host of this year's conference, Seoul National University.

Jennifer and Tim’s paper, "The Global ESG Stewardship Ecosystem" explores how a complex “global ESG stewardship ecosystem”, comprising a myriad of actors, but with institutional investors at its core, is exerting significant influence in shaping ESG investor stewardship, not only “on the books”, but also “on the ground” in markets around the world. While in Seoul, Jennifer also spoke at a Korea Legislative Research Institute on ESG (KLRI) event on ESG in Asia.
