Monash Assistive Technology and Society (MATS) Centre

Monash Assistive Technology and Society (MATS) Centre has over 100 members, making it the largest centre of its kind in the world. It also engages with disability support organisations and people with a disability through the MATS Partners and Friends programs.

MATS has a vision of a world in which people with disabilities have access to technologies that allow them to lead self-directed lives and equitably engage in education, employment and the community.

We aim to achieve that vision by undertaking research into new technologies and understanding the barriers to uptake. We also provide students with cutting edge assistive technologies and knowledge about inclusive design. We run Outreach and programs to increase the number of students with disabilities studying STEM.

AccessAbility Peer Network

MATS proudly supports AccessAbility - a peer network for, and by, students with disability who are interested in IT. This network aims to promote inclusion and enhance the university experience for the disability community by bringing together students with shared experiences and expertise to collaborate and disseminate knowledge, resources and opportunities.
