About the Alliance
The Monash-ENGIE Alliance partnership will see Net Zero Solutions developed, deployed and scaled to the precinct level
Helping cities reach Net Zero emissions is vital to delivering on the Paris Agreement. Through this partnership, Monash and ENGIE will co-develop solutions to enable cities to reach Net Zero emissions, using precincts as a test bed for this transition.
Precincts are small urban environments where people live, work, study, travel, manufacture and do business. Because precincts depend on the three urban infrastructure systems that give rise to the majority of carbon emissions in Australian cities - energy, mobility and buildings - they are ideal places where integrated and transformative solutions can be developed, tested and scaled up to accelerate transitions at the broader city scale.
The partnership will use Monash University’s four Australian campuses located throughout Melbourne, and the Monash Technology Precinct surrounding the Clayton campus, as a Living Lab to develop, demonstrate and scale Net Zero Solutions. This will see existing solutions from ENGIE’s portfolio deployed, as well as new knowledge, solutions and products co-developed and integrated into the Living Lab, to ultimately scale into products and services that facilitate the transition towards precincts that are Net Zero, liveable, socially just and affordable in Australia and world-wide.
