Commercialise your research

Monash Innovation is the front door to a complete Innovation Ecosystem of expertise, training, connections, facilities and funding

We work with inventors, researchers and creators from every faculty, at any stage of their research career, to assess the commercial and social impact opportunities for their research. During an assessment, we consider many variables to determine if the research is suitable for commercialisation.

If an assessment indicates an opportunity to commercialise, there are four pathway options to consider: Startup, Spinout, Exclusive Licence or Non-Exclusive Licence. Choosing which option will depend on the assessment and the level of involvement that is right for you.

You can arrange an assessment by completing the Innovation Disclosure Form or email innovation@monash.edu to request an initial meeting with a commercialisation manager.

Maintain your confidentiality

Disclosing information about your invention in the public sphere through media interviews will likely prevent your invention from being patented. Even sharing details with other researchers in conversation or through a conference abstract will reduce your chances of obtaining patent protection.
