ELECTRALITH IS UNLOCKING A GREEN FUTURE WITH THE CLEANEST, MOST VERSATILE, AND MOST COST-EFFICIENT METHOD OF EXTRACTING AND REFINING LITHIUM, THE FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENT OF A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Lithium is an essential element in ‘clean energy’. It is used to make batteries for mobile phones, laptops, digital cameras, electric vehicles and wind and solar power storage. Most processes to extract lithium are costly and have negative impacts on the environment such as carbon dioxide emissions, mineral waste, chemical pollution, and the subsequent alteration of the hydrological cycle from the use of vast quantities of water.

ElectraLith’s innovative DLE-R technology revolutionises the Direct Lithium Extraction (“DLE”) and Refining industry by extracting and producing battery-grade lithium hydroxide or carbonate in a single, scalable, and modular step. As opposed to other DLE processes, DLE-R fully eliminates the need for water and chemicals and can run entirely on renewable energy.

In 2024, the company delivered proof of concept that its DLE-R technology can produce battery grade lithium hydroxide from a range of lithium sources using no water, no chemicals and minimal energy.

ElectraLith is based in Melbourne, Australia within the Monash Innovation Labs, and Washington, DC.

"At Electralith, our rapid emergence as the most cost-efficient and cleanest method of extracting lithium has been significantly enhanced by the expertise and investment support from Monash University. As part of the Monash innovation ecosystem, located within the dynamic setting of Monash Innovation Labs, we’ve not only secured essential funding, but also benefited from a rich network of expertise and resources. The University’s commitment to fostering innovation has been crucial in propelling our growth and ambitions.” — Charlie McCGill, CEO, ElectraLith
