Maya Cares
Maya Cares addresses the mental health and wellbeing impact of racism on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Black, and Women of Colour, who are underserved and face a lack of culturally appropriate and accessible mental health services.
The Maya Cares platform, co-developed with over 300 women with lived experience, features a chatbot and a resource library with 100+ culturally relevant materials for emotional processing, mindfulness, and self-soothing. The chatbot offers a trauma-informed approach, guiding users through grounding exercises, directing them to stories and podcasts about racism, helping report incidents, and providing resources for legal advice and justice pursuit. Users can also report incidents, allowing us to collect data and develop insights for government policy recommendations.
The MVP community version launched last year to nationwide attention and the team plans to expand to a corporate version to help employers support staff effectively.
