At Monash, we're committed to creating safe, inclusive and welcoming environments where Rainbow and LGBTIQA+ communities can thrive. This commitment sits within a long arc of work at Monash, shaped over decades. This work is ongoing, and is important.

Sharon Pickering

At Monash, we have a strong tradition of supporting our LGBTIQA+ community, and while we celebrate our strides forward, we also recognise there is still work to be done to ensure everyone feels safe, seen and heard.

It’s important to us to go beyond words and give students the opportunity to experience what it means to be part of a genuinely inclusive community. It’s with tremendous joy that we chose to incorporate the celebration of pride into our Orientation program from 2023, an initiative that continues each year in addition to celebrating the Monash community at the Midsumma Pride March.

Together, we can create a community built on a culture of inclusion, a community that embraces our diversity, and a community in which our LGBTIQA+ friends and colleagues feel they belong.
