R U OK? Day
Thursday 8 September
Thursday 8 September
R U OK? Day encourages all of us to have regular, meaningful conversations to support anyone struggling with life’s ups and downs.
This year our message is: Ask R U OK? No qualifications needed. Because a conversation could change a life.
The earlier we genuinely ask, ‘Are you OK?’, the greater our chance of helping someone before they’re in crisis.
You can get involved by attending an event or hosting an event (or both!)
Attend an R U OK? Day event to make connections, get resources and info on health and wellbeing services that are available to you or to learn how to ask ‘Are you okay?’
Host an event!
Hosting an R U OK? event is a great way to bring people together – in person or virtually – to share the message.
We encourage you to organise a get-together for your workplace, student group, club or association. Your event can be anything, as long as it's meaningful.
Download email postcards to send to friends and colleagues – let them know you're thinking of them.
Download a Zoom background to use during meetings or other events.
Here at Monash, we offer a range of activities to educate students and staff about common mental health issues, and how to support each other to get through them. Some of these programs can only be delivered face-to-face.
For more information, see our counselling services page.
Monash counsellors now offer telehealth (video or phone) consultations. If you're a Monash student, your appointment will be free. To make a booking, call (03) 9905 3020.
You can also get counselling help after-hours.
Not sure where to start? Need some help reading the signs or preparing for a conversation?
