The Monash Thrive app was built by the Monash THRIVE team in collaboration with Allianz Care Australia for our Monash community. Although specifically designed with Monash students we wanted the Monash Thrive app to be available to any student or staff in our community throughout their time here at Monash.
The Monash Thrive app is a preventative mental health tool, this means it does not and can not endeavour to treat or diagnose, it is simply a tool we hope will help promote mental health literacy, increase awareness of mental health and wellbeing, and increase rates of early help seeking for those in need.
Please note that only our Monash students and staff are able to make an account and use the Monash Thrive app, and will only be able to do so whilst they have access to an active Monash email address.
The Monash Thrive app was built by Monash THRIVE in collaboration with Allianz Care Australia to be a co-designed mental health tool made with and for our Monash Community. The Monash Thrive app is only for our Monash community as such it is important that you use your valid Monash student or staff email address to make an account, this ensures the app is going to the people we designed it for.
The Monash Thrive app does not collect any of your user data such as mood check-ins or diary entries, everything is under your control on your own device only and you can permanently delete it at any time by either deleting your account from within the app or uninstalling the app from your phone.
You can download it from the Apple App Store or GooglePlay store. Most Android and all iOS devices can run the app, you may have issues accessing the app if your phone can no longer support the latest software updates released by either Apple or Android.
If your device is a 'fold' model phone you will not be able to download or use the Monash Thrive app on your device. The Monash Thrive app currently cannot be run on these types of phones but we are working on it.
The Monash THRIVE App was also not designed to be run on tablets or iPads, please be aware that if you manage to install and run the App or a tablet or iPad screen it may impact how the app looks and works as it was not designed for this.
For a list of devices not compatible with the Monash Thrive app go to the relevant App store page for downloading the Monash Thrive app and scroll to the bottom of the page. This will list non-compatible devices.

You only require your email address to authenticate that you are a valid Monash student or staff, everything else sits only on your phone (please see above for FAQ why do I need to use my Monash email for more information). All your diary and mood entries, activities and personal data is stored only on your device and can be permanently deleted by you at any time by either deleting your account from within the app or uninstalling the app from your phone. Please note that if you accidentally delete your account or the app, or even change phones we cannot restore any data for you as we do not collect it.
The Monash Thrive app does collect crash analytics data to ensure we know if the app is crashing or not working. This data does not identify you in any way it only flags if a feature or something within the app isn't working well.
When you leave Monash and your email account no longer works your account will be deleted automatically. Your app may continue to work for a short period of time but it will stop working and your data will be deleted at some point.
All resources on the Monash Thrive app are created by experts in the field of mental and cognitive health. Each resource has been reviewed by us and is based on scientific evidence. If you are interested in a topic that is highlighted by the resources we recommend that you explore these topics further using evidence based research that you can find through the Monash Library resources. We always support your learning and exploring new mental health information yourself, just be wary of where your information comes from and how impactful it really is.
Please always be mindful of where your information is coming from and critically analyse information before allowing it to impact your life or behaviour.
You can access and download the Monash Thrive app by searching 'Monash Thrive' in your phones app store.
Please note if you are searching for the app from a laptop, a tablet or iPad, or a 'fold' style phone you may not be able to see the app on your app store. The Monash Thrive app does not support use on laptops, tablets or iPads, or 'fold' style phones. If you somehow get access on one of these devices please be aware the app may appear different or not work well, this is because the app is not currently designed to work on these devices.
You can download the app even if you don't have a Monash email account, but you will not be able to create an account or use the app features.
You might have a problem download if:
- The software on your phone is not up to date or cannot be updated. Please update the software on your phone and try again.
- If you are located within mainland China you may experience some issues accessing the Monash Thrive app, this is because many services are not accessible within mainland China. Using a VPN or changing the location of your app store could solve this issue.
- Your phone doesn't have enough storage space for the app. If your phone storage is full you may need to delete something before downloading the app.
- Some devices are not currently compatible with the Monash Thrive app. If you are searching for the app on a laptop, iPad or tablet, or a 'fold' type phone you will not be able to access the app as it does not current support those devices. If you somehow manage to access the app from a device such as this please be aware it may not work well or look consistent on this device as it was not designed for this purpose.
There can be a few reasons why you are not able to receive emails, this could include:
- Please ensure you are checking your internet connection is stable
- Ensure that your Monash email address is correct and active. Email authentications will only work with an active Monash email account.

There are a few reasons the activation/verification link may not be working, please check the following and try again:
- Ensure you are checking your email and clicking the verification/activation link using the same device the app is installed on
- Ensure you have a stable internet connection
- Ensure your Monash Thrive app is up to date with any updates by checking your phones app store
If this still doesn't work you can try to copy and paste the activation link into your phones Chrome browser (you will also need to ensure that your Chrome browser app is up to date).

There are two possible scenarios why you are unable to login to the app
- You are not using a "@monash.edu" or "@student.monash.edu" email or it is incorrect. See above for more information.
- When verifying your email you must have access your Monash email from the same device the app is installed on, not from another phone or laptop.
- Make sure you still have access to your Monash email address.
- Check your internet connection to ensure you are connected to the internet.
