Religion, pluralism, and healthcare practice: a philosophical assessment

An Australian Research Council Discovery Project (DP190101597), running from June 2019 to June 2022.

This bioethics project aims to develop a systematic approach to accommodating religious values and practices in healthcare. Current approaches are ad hoc and discriminatory, and in contemporary Australia, which is becoming ever more religiously diverse, a systematic approach is needed.

This bioethics project expects to provide policy advice about the accommodation of religious values in healthcare, publications in high impact academic journals in bioethics, philosophy and medicine, and the organisation of international conferences.  The project aims to have the significant benefit of providing a better model for healthcare management that reduces disparities for disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, while doing so in a cost effective manner.
