Background

The Freda Freiberg Film and Screen Studies Library is a research collection housed at the School of Media, Film and Journalism (MFJ), Monash University, Caulfield, Caulfield Campus.

The material in the Library had its beginnings in what was the Monash Film Group (1960s). This initial collection of film books and journals was gradually consolidated through contributions by prominent film studies academics, including a large donation by Melbourne-based film critic and historian Freda Freiberg.

Additional contributions have come from the collections of Ina Bertrand, Annette Blonski, John Hughes, Adrian Martin, Ken Mogg, Tom O'Regan, John Politzer, Susan Stewart and METRO magazine.

The unique and specialist holdings of the Library are supported by comprehensive holdings of books, journals and industry publications from Australia and overseas. Read more about the Library here.
