This course is for students who want to change careers and become an engineer, move into a different field of engineering or are seeking an internationally recognised engineering qualification to build on their undergraduate engineering studies.

The masters is a two or three year program, depending on your undergraduate degree, that provides you the technical knowledge and hands-on experience to practice as a professional engineer in Australia and other Washington Accord countries.

You'll specialise in engineering technical, research and professional units and undertake design and research projects, blending theory and practice.

If you have a degree in a different field, such as science, mathematics or pharmacy and want to pursue a career in engineering, the three-year conversion course gives you the technical skills and knowledge you need to become a practising engineer.

Looking to improve your job prospects and work in a different field of engineering?

You can build on your engineering undergraduate study and develop expertise in a second specialisation. This course enables you to change direction and further your career aspirations, becoming highly employable across engineering fields.

A range of specialisations available

You build on your undergraduate experience, or change direction, by choosing from among the program’s five engineering specialisations: chemical, civil, electrical, materials and mechanical. This gives you the opportunity to pursue your interests and career goals, and to deepen your knowledge through professional core units and advanced technical electives in your chosen area.

Professional accreditation

The Master of Professional Engineering has been designed to meet the Stage 1 competencies for accreditation by Engineers Australia (EA). The Faculty has commenced the accreditation process for full recognition by EA and currently has provisional accreditation. Once accredited, your Masters degree will be an internationally recognised qualification which allows you to work as a professional engineer in Australia and other Washington Accord signatory countries.

Mastering the critical skills needed for success
