Hult Prize at Monash
One million to change the world
The Hult Prize is a global platform for university students to transform ambitious ideas into social enterprises that address the world’s most urgent challenges. Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the program supports future leaders to design and build ventures with the potential for lasting, world-changing impact.
At the end of the competition, one team will win $1M USD in seed funding to bring their idea to life.
What's in it for me?
- The Hult Prize challenges students to launch for‑profit startups that directly support at least one UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
- The winning team receives $1 million USD in seed funding to bring their idea to life.
- Beyond the competition, participants gain access to mentorship, scholarships, investment connections, and a lifelong global network of social entrepreneurs.
How does it work?
- Form a team: 2–4 eligible students from any university
- Solve a problem: Develop a business idea that is both profitable and impactful.
- Compete: Build a pitch deck, one‑pager, and video, then submit and present.
How do I apply?
It is important that you read these instructions carefully and follow them to ensure that your application and submission to the competition are recieved:
- Register online on the Hult Prize page and mark Monash University as your institution
- Fill out the Monash Hult Prize Application form
- PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT YOUR SUBMISSION FORM - you will receive a link to the Competition Submission form AFTER you complete the Application Form - Join us for Pitch Coaching and Mixer on the 4th February, from 2-4pm (optional)
- Submit the following to the Monash Generator by 11.59am, 11th February 2026:
- A 4‑minute pitch video (YouTube link)
- A pitch deck (PDF)
- A startup one‑pager (PDF) using the official template
- Finalists will then pitch live to a judging panel on 18 February 2025 at the Monash Generator, Clayton Campus.
As part of your application make sure you access the Hult Prize’s Digital Learning Hub that takes you through crucial information, such as human-centred design and go-to-market strategy to help your submission stand out!
All the important information
- Eligibility: Teams of 2–4 students, aged 18+, enrolled in a degree program. Teams with a mix of non-Monash students must have at least one student in the team enrolled at Monash University.
- Existing startups welcome: Early‑stage ventures can compete, especially those seeking pre‑seed or seed investment.
- All teams must be registered through Hult Prize and through our form to be eligible to pitch to our judging panel

- Impact: Your idea must create a measurable positive impact on people and the planet and support at least one UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) by 2030.
- Evaluation criteria: Innovation & impact, business model viability, execution & traction, team strength & leadership.

Key dates
- Before 11 February 2026 - Register for Hult Prize through their website AND via the Monash Local Competition Application Form
- 4 February 2026 - Attend the optional pitch coaching and mixer at The Generator, Clayton Campus
- 11 February 2026 - Submit pitch deck, video & one-pager - you will receive this link after you fill out the Application form
- 13 February 2026 - Finalists announced via email
- 18 February 2026 - Finalists pitch to judging panel at The Generato, Clayton Campus
- 25 February 2026 - Winner and two runners up present at O-Week, Clayton Campus
