Improve your English
English Connect is a fun way to meet others and work on all aspects of your English skills. Classes are led by trained students, and there are no exams, lectures or books. All classes are free and available to all students.
Engaging and highly interactive, the Let's Chat program helps you build your skills in conversational English. It's a peer-to-peer program, so the facilitators in the classroom are also Monash students. Not only do they have exceptional English and cross-cultural communication skills, they are trained to create a dynamic classroom for undergraduate, masters and PhD students. Whether you're new to the University or continuing your journey, you'll find this program extremely helpful.
Develop your academic English skills by signing up to the Peer Support program. You can bring along a piece of your writing (up to 300 words) to a 20-minute drop-in consultation for grammar feedback. This program aims to help you develop the type of academic writing needed for university.
Polish Up Your Grammar
The Polish Up Your Grammar program will assist your use of English grammar in an academic context. The program comprises eight independent, two-hour modules on topics such as verb tenses, sentence structure, academic vocabulary, and coherence. Each module compares academic English with everyday Australian English.
Speaking with Confidence
Build your public speaking skills, non-verbal communication and pronunciation in the Speaking with Confidence program. The four modules offer strategies to help boost your confidence when speaking in public. Each independent module runs for two hours.
