Enrolling at Monash for the first time
If you're enrolling for the first time, this video will assist you with:
- using a course map to plan your course
- understanding the credit point system at Monash
- identifying the different types of units that make up your course
- recognising areas of study.
Why you should accept your offer
It's always a good idea to accept your offer, even if you're expecting another one.
Watch the video on VTAC's Facebook page for details.
If you come across any unfamiliar words, check out the Get Started Glossary.
If your course permits, you may want to take an elective taught by another faculty. If enrolling in a double degree you can take units only from both partner faculties.
Art, Design and Architecture
Before enrolling in a Faculty of Art Design and Architecture (MADA) elective unit, you’ll need to either meet the prerequisites in the Handbook, or enrol in our online Occupational Health and Safety unit OHS1000 (0 credit points), and get written permission from the unit coordinator. Some units have quotas, so enrolment is conditional on available places.
For more information please email us at MADA student services, email@example.com
You can enrol in Arts units if you meet the prerequisites. If you have room in your course you can complete an arts major or minor. For more information refer to the list of Arts areas of study.
Business and Economics
You can enrol in Business and Economics units if you meet the prerequisites and co-requisites for the unit. If you have room in your course you may complete a major or minor. Some major or minors require completion of additional and higher-level mathematics units. For more information, please refer to the Handbook.
If you have a query please contact us online.
If you meet the prerequisites, you can enrol in Faculty of Education approved undergraduate electives.
Before enrolling in an Engineering elective unit, you’ll need to meet the prerequisites in the Handbook. It's assumed that students studying Engineering undergraduate units have completed VCE units 3/4 Maths Methods (or equivalent). Some units also assume a VCE units 3/4 Physics background. We ask that you enrol in units after 21 February, when we can guarantee that students with an Engineering course offer have enrolled.
You can enrol in most Information Technology units if you meet the prerequisites. However, please check unit prerequisites carefully in the online Handbook, as some units require year 12 mathematics.
Only students taking Law degrees can enrol in Law elective units. Before enrolling in a Law elective unit, please check that you meet that prerequisites the Handbook.
Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences
If you meet the prerequisites, you can enrol in Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences units. Please refer to the Handbook for eligibility requirements.
Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
You can only enrol in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences units if you're enrolled in a Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences course.
You can enrol in science units if you meet the prerequisites and corequisites for the unit. If you have room in your course you may complete a science major or minor. Please note some major or minors require completion of additional mathematics units. For more information refer to the list of level one-science units and level one science sequences and related majors and minors. If you have a query please contact Science Student Services.
