SETU survey instrument prior Sem 1, 2016

SETU is an online unit and teaching evaluation survey administered each semester to coursework units. Faculties elect which units and teaching staff are to be available for evaluation each semester in line with the SETU procedures.

Unit evaluation: University-wide questions

The following core set of questions - answered on a 5-point Likert scale - are administered across all units:

  1. The unit enabled me to achieve its learning objectives.
  2. I found the unit to be intellectually stimulating.
  3. The learning resources in this unit supported my studies.
  4. The feedback I received in this unit was useful.
  5. Overall, I was satisfied with the quality of this unit.

The following core set of qualitative questions are administered across all units:

  1. What were the best aspects of this unit?
  2. What aspects of this unit are most in need of improvement?

Unit evaluation: Faculty-specific questions

Faculties may include up to 5 additional faculty-specific questions, refer to the faculty templates for details.

Teaching evaluation: Educator-specific questions

For units where staff have been selected for teaching evaluation through SETU, 4 questions will be repeated for each staff member that the student elects to evaluate.

Once the student has completed the Unit Evaluation component of the survey the following educator specific questions will appear:

  1. <John Smith's> explanations helped my understanding.
  2. <John Smith> inspired me to learn more.
  3. <John Smith> encouraged me to participate.
  4. Overall, I would rate <John Smith's> teaching as:

Questions 1-3 within the Teaching Evaluation section use the a 5-point Likert scale. The final overall satisfaction question has the following scale: Outstanding, Good, Average, Poor, Very Poor, Not Able to Assess.
