AD EDI Professor Rashina Hoda and CSIRO’s Dr Muneera Bano presented their paper ‘What does a Software Engineer look like? Exploring Societal Stereotypes in LLMs’ in the Software Engineering in Society (SEIS) track of the IEEE/ACM International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE 2025).

Co-authored with PhD candidate Hashini Gunatilake, this paper examines how large language models can reinforce gender and racial stereotypes about software engineers. The work was commissioned by Professor Hoda and funded by the EDI portfolio.
