Head of School
As I reflect on another year, it is difficult to not mention the continued impact and effects of the pandemic on our profession, graduates, and students. Our staff continue to provide outstanding education ensuring our courses and graduates are efficient and effective members of the healthcare teams they join, and I am incredibly proud to say we have continued our high percentage of students gaining employment upon completion of their course.
The expertise within our team translates not only to our education but also our research areas and we have great leadership within many specialisations of nursing and midwifery. Our researchers continue to make a huge impact on evidence-based research and care, contributing to the continuing development of the profession but also care and support of healthcare globally.
After nearly 30 years with Monash Nursing and Midwifery, I am incredibly proud to have had the pleasure of being Head of School for the last seven years. It has been a challenging and unique experience and I am pleased to leave the school in a strong position, ranking 5th globally for nursing* with Monash students making a significant contribution to the profession. I pass this role on to Professor Julia Morphet under whose leadership and expertise I am sure will see the school flourish further.
