Five tips and tricks for attending your first Open Day

Throughout our Your Open Day Guide series, we’ve suggested some of the best questions to ask, listed some things to keep in mind before you get here and provided some ideas of how to make the most of your day; so now that Open Day is on the horizon, we hope you’re feeling prepared and excited to discover what life at Monash is really like.

We know that Monash is a big university (we’re the largest in Australia!), so you may still feel a little daunted to attend your first Open Day. That’s ok! We’re here to help. If we had to narrow it down, these would be our top five tips and tricks for attending your first Open Day.

Tip 1: Register View

Tip 2: Plan how to get to campus View

Open Day can get busy, so make a plan for how you’re getting there. If you’re driving, make sure you know where to park. If you’re taking public transport, check our website or the PTV app for your options. Don’t forget we’ve also got free shuttle buses running throughout the weekend.

Here are a few suggestions on how to get to each of our campuses:

If you’re driving, free parking is available all day. The largest car park is the N1 car park, which provides convenient access to our education and medicine, nursing, and health sciences zone. More parking is available in our S1 car park, which is close to our business zone and all of the extra activities happening on the library lawn.
If you’re getting the train, take the Frankston line to Frankston Station and jump on our free shuttle bus to campus. It runs between Frankston Station and Peninsula campus every half hour between 9.30am and 2.30pm on Open Day.

If you’re taking public transport, you can get the train, tram or bus to Caulfield Station and Open Day is waiting for you right across the road.
If you’re driving, limited free parking is available in the Building J car park. It fills up quickly, so get in early to avoid disappointment.

If you’re driving, we have plenty of free parking options. If you're interested in studying engineering, information technology, medicine, nursing and health sciences, or science, park in the N1 car park - it's the closest car park to these zones. Enter via Bayview Avenue.
If you're interested in studying art, design and architecture, arts, business, education, law, or pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, park in any of the southern car parks – they’re the closest car parks to these zones. Enter via Wellington Road.
Taking the train? Take the Pakenham or Cranbourne lines to Huntingdale Station, and catch one of the many buses to our campus. The 601 service express shuttle will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm on Open Day.

Public transport is the most convenient way to get to our Parkville campus. Jump on the tram up Royal Parade and get off at Stop 16, right outside the front doors.
If you’re driving, limited street parking is available along Royal Parade or Walker Street.
