Additive Manufacturing
Monash Centre for Additive Manufacturing takes fundamental research from a broad range of disciplines and applies them to manufacturing challenges. These include materials science, alloy design and processing, mechanical and aerospace engineering, structure design and simulation, surface engineering, corrosion and hybrid materials.
Animal Research
The Monash Animal Research Platform supports approved research projects through the high-quality supply of laboratory animals, specialised rodent reproductive services and through the provision of advanced technical and veterinary services. The platform exceeds the standards specified in the relevant Codes of Practice and industry regulations.
Antibody Discovery
The Monash Antibody Discovery Platform generates high-affinity monoclonal antibodies through advanced discovery techniques and antibody engineering. Additionally, we can help customers with antibody protein sequencing, custom ELISA development and custom automated applications.
Bioinformatics
The Monash Bioinformatics Platforms is a hub for the network of bioinformaticians across the University. We have expertise in cutting-edge computational techniques in areas such as genomics, proteomics and structural biology. We help researchers make sense of huge data sets now generated in the biological sciences.
Biomedical Imaging
The Monash Biomedical Imaging Platform provides multimodal an simultaneous imaging technologies alongside human testing facilities and animal support services allow researchers from various disciplines to conduct their preclinical and clinical studies. We provide a complete research service spanning ethics, radiochemistry, imaging and data analysis.
Cryo Electron Microscopy
The Monash Ramaciotti Centre for Cryo-Electron Microscopy provides expertise in advanced electron microscopy (EM) for biomedical discoveries at the molecular and cellular level. We offer a range of bio EM techniques including immune-electron microscopy, correlative light and electron microscopy. We also provide cryo-tomography and protein structure determination using single-particle cryo-EM.

The Monash Data Science and AI Platform provides a stepping stone for researchers towards applying data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence to their data intensive research. The platform acts as a catalyst for major discoveries and translation into world-changing solutions.
Drone Discovery

Drug Candidate Optimisation
The Centre for Drug Candidate Optimisation provides biopharmaceutical lead optimisation expertise to drug discovery programs. Optimising physiochemical, metabolism and pharmacokinetic properties of drug candidates is essential in guiding medicinal chemistry, developing formulation and delivery strategies, and informing dosing regimens to ensure safety and efficacy.
Electron Microscopy
The Monash Centre for Electron Microscopy enables the determination of the composition, structure and bonding of materials down to the atomic scale. We perform research in the development and application of electron microscopy methods and provide advanced instrumentation, expertise and teaching in electron microscopy.
eResearch
eResearch is the 21st-century discovery through the application of advanced computing, data informatics and IT. The Monash eResearch Centre partners with research groups to accelerate and transform research by connecting them to the most appropriate hardware, environments, software and skills.
Flowcore
FlowCore provides flow cytometry services to researchers within Monash University and the wider scientific community. Flow cytometry is a highspeed laser-based technology enabling users to generate multiparametric data about cell characteristics or particles of interest.
Fragment Drug Design
The Fragment Platform provides academic and commercial researchers with access to fragment-based drug discovery (FBDD) technologies for their therapeutic targets. FBDD screening uses our high-quality, in-house fragment library designed to maximise chemical space coverage and enable rapid hit optimisation.
Functional Genomics
The Functional Genomics Platform provides the tools and expertise for unbiased, systematic, high-throughput gain-of-function and loss-of-function screens in human and mouse cells. Our pooled library screens take advantage of the latest in CRISPRCas9 technology (CRISPRko, CRISPRi, CRISPRa) based editors, single-cell sequencing and ORF libraries.
Genome Modification
The Monash Genome Modification Platform can provide a comprehensive service in whole animal and cell genome modification using CRISPR, embryonic stem cells and transgenic technologies. Specialist services include CRISPR-mediated mutagenesis, gene targeting in mouse embryonic stem cells, production of genetically modified rodents and other species and DNA construct design and production.
Genomics
Micromon is a research-driven platform that provides cutting edge services in DNA and RNA technologies, including Next-generation sequencing (NGS) and Sanger sequencing to the broader research community. These services are supported by the provision of DNA and RNA sizing, quantitation and QC, custom oligonucleotide synthesis, Real-time PCR, Covaris shearing, and microarray scanning. Micromon staff are recognised for their expertise in project management, guidance and technical troubleshooting.
Helix
Helix, a health data ecosystem operated by expert staff and underpinned by world-class research infrastructure, spearheads a new era in healthcare research that will drive personalised medicine and significantly accelerate progress towards a healthier society. This capability is an initiative of Monash University working collaboratively with key health partners, including Alfred, Eastern, Monash and Peninsula Health.
Histology
Monash Histology Platform (MHP) is a full-service histology laboratory operating to international quality standards (ISO 9001 certified). MHP supports the local and national research community, providing specialised services, training and consultation. We provide all frozen sections, methacrylate and epoxy resin processing, sectioning and staining services, in addition to slide scanning and digital imaging, tissue clearing, tissue microarray generation and automated immunohistochemical staining.
HMST Laboratory
The HMSTrust Analytical Laboratory is an open-access pharmaceutical research platform that offers sophisticated physical and chemical characterisation techniques to complement research and overcome challenges faced in modern drug development. This laboratory provides an affordable pathway for the development of new pharmaceutical and diagnostic products.
Macromolecular Crystallisation
The Monash Macromolecular Crystallisation Platform is an automated platform for the high-throughput crystallisation of biological macromolecules. Macromolecular crystallography provides unparalleled details of the 3D structures of biological macromolecules and forms the basis for the rational design of therapeutics. Our facility helps to overcome the crystallisation bottleneck in crystallographic structure determination.
Metabolic Phenotyping
Equipped with the latest in metabolic phenotyping instrumentation and technical expertise, the Monash Metabolic Phenotyping Platform (MMPP) combines cutting edge technology with state-of-the-art methodology to provide a sophisticated metabolic phenotyping platform.
Optical and Advanced Microscopy
Monash Micro Imaging (MMI) is world-class in optical imaging. MMI technologies include advanced light microscopy, fluorescence and confocal microscopy, multiphoton microscopy, super-resolution microscopy, light-sheet microscopy, which cater to a diverse range of morphological and functional characterisation in the life sciences.
Proteomics & Metabolomics
The Monash Proteomics & Metabolomics Facility is equipped with the latest mass spectrometric instrumentation and combines this with state-of-the-art methodology to provide the best possible results. Specialist proteomics services include qualitative and quantitative proteomics, cross-linking mass spectrometry, analysis of post-translational modifications and intact mass determination. Other specialist services include metabolomics, lipidomics and N-terminal sequencing.
X-Ray
The Monash X-Ray Platform provides advanced X-ray based materials characterisation equipment, expertise, services and training. Using a combination of XRD, XPS and SAXS, we facilitate innovation across multiple disciplines including the design of materials for industrial, environmental and biomedical applications as well as the development of green technologies and processes for energy production and mining.
