Community engagement
We are dedicated to translating our research and partnering with community organisations for meaningful impact.
We are currently partnered with Asian-led social enterprise, Shapes and Sounds, a community organisation aimed at destigmatising mental health for Asian communities within Australia. Through our partnership, we continue to work together in delivering recent research outputs to the community and mental health workforce in Australia, such as through Shape and Sounds' Community of Practice (Professional Development), and Cultural Competency training for mental health organisations such as Headspace Syndal. We hope to address the evident gaps between academia and community in order to build greater cultural competency within the mental health sector.
You can find a summary from one of our co-led Community of Practice sessions linked here. For more information about these trainings and professional development sessions, please contact marcus@justshapesandsounds.com.
If you are a community organisation working with trauma-exposed individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, we would love to connect with you. To chat about potential collaboration and make a meaningful impact together, please contact our research assistants: larissa.qiu@monash.edu or marcus.lai@monash.edu.
