Education Awards

A new approach

In 2025, we introduced a refreshed VC Awards process, designed to reduce application workload while making it easier to recognise outstanding educational contributions across Monash University. Following a successful first iteration, the process has been refined to better support and celebrate our educators.

What's different?

The process has been streamlined to better highlight the impact of our educators and create multiple pathways for recognition.

Recognition pathways

• Monash has introduced a new Recognition of Education Excellence form that allows both students and staff to nominate excellent educators and teams
• Nominees receive an email detailing the reasons for their nomination and an invitation to submit a 3 minute story
• Stories can be submitted in video, audio, or text format (guidance available on our 3 minute story web page)
• Stories are reviewed by a panel of experienced educators and, if selected, can form the basis for a VC Award application.

Selected stories are invited to be translated into full VC Award applications that include:

• A revised story, aligned to a VC Award category
• An impact statement.
• An endorsement by a relevant education leader in the applicant’s area (e.g. DDE/ADE/VPE)

Even if their story isn't selected for a VC Award application, the nominee may be invited to share their story on the new Professional Learning Hub – a platform for showcasing exceptional educational practices and resources across our community.

We encourage you to recognise educators and teams through the Recognition of Education Excellence form, even if they aren’t interested in pursuing a VC Award. It's a quick, simple way to acknowledge their contributions without creating additional work. Submitting a story is entirely optional, as is developing it into a VC Award application.
