The Vice-Chancellor's Excellence Awards for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion recognise those who have made an outstanding contribution to advancing equity, diversity and fostering inclusion at Monash and beyond.
Award Themes
These awards embody the University's commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, underpinned by our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Framework 2022-2030, which operationalises the ‘Inclusive’ goal articulated in the University’s Impact 2030 Strategic Plan.
To be considered the nominee's contribution must go beyond the usual scope of their position at Monash, and must exceed the role of a volunteer in a program or initiative.
The selection criteria section includes three criteria questions.
Nominations should address the following themes:
- Developing teaching practice, curricula or other initiatives that foster inclusion for a diverse range of students; as well as education activities and training for staff designed to enhance understanding of equitable and inclusive practices, or supporting people from diverse backgrounds.
- Initiatives aimed at building or supporting equity, diversity and inclusion at Monash, promoting accessible and inclusive spaces (physical, social and digital), advocating for change alongside marginalised identities to enhance our learning and/or working environment and culture.
- Initiatives aimed at building a community that is equitable, diverse and inclusive, engaging with the wider community to foster inclusion and a sense of belonging, as well as initiatives informed by lived experiences of our diverse community that sought to address issues of inequality.
Award Criteria
Nominations should address the following criteria:
Describe the achievements of the nominated individual or team and how the relevant activity, program or initiative supports equity, diversity and inclusion at Monash and beyond. Please include how their actions contributed to one or more of the goals outlined in the EDI Framework.
- Strong collaborative partnerships across the University.
- Enhanced community knowledge to support equity, diversity and inclusion.
- A diverse community at all levels of the organisation.
- Dismantled barriers through structural change.
- Enhanced intersectional data, reporting and evaluation.
Describe the positive impact the nominee/s achieved and the extent their contributions benefitted staff, students or the broader Monash community. In particular, describe how their efforts contribute towards one or more of our aims for EDI at Monash.
- A community that appreciates, respects and includes Indigenous Peoples cultures.
