Satya Sireesha Rameswarapu Awarded Prestigious Andrew Legacy Bursary for Catalysis Summer School
In a momentous achievement, Satya Sireesha Rameswarapu has been honoured with the esteemed Andrew Legacy Bursary, securing her participation in the upcoming Catalysis Summer School at the University of Liverpool from 24-28 June 2024. This bursary, generously bestowed by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), facilitates the attendance of up to 20 PhD, EngD, or MSc students from around the world at the week-long event, themed 'Fundamentals and Practice of Catalysis'. Hosted biennially by the University of Liverpool’s distinguished Department of Chemistry. Summer school stands as a premier platform for emerging researchers to explore the intricacies of catalysis.
Sireesha's selection for this prestigious bursary stands as a testament to her unwavering dedication and expertise in the field of catalysis. Named in honour of the esteemed Professor Syd Andrew, a luminary in heterogeneous catalysis, the Andrew Legacy Bursary recognises Sireesha's potential to make substantial contributions to catalysis research.
Participation in the Catalysis Summer School promises invaluable opportunities for Sireesha to deepen her understanding of catalytic fundamentals, engage with cutting-edge research, and network with esteemed experts in the field. This immersive experience is poised to enrich her academic journey and empower her to drive meaningful advancements in catalytic science and technology.
Sireesha, who commenced her doctoral studies at Monash University in 2023, under the guidance of Prof Akshat Tanksale, holds the distinction of being the inaugural PhD candidate enrolled in the ARC Research Hub for Carbon Utilisation and Recycling program (RECARB HUB). Her pioneering research within the RECARB HUB delves deep into the intricate mechanisms of Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU), aimed at tackling pressing environmental challenges. Employing innovative strategies, Sireesha's work focuses on capturing CO2 and transforming it into a valuable resource, thereby heralding a paradigm shift in which CO2 evolves from a pollutant to a vital asset. Through her efforts, Sireesha not only contributes to the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions but also champions the establishment of a circular economy, wherein waste is repurposed into invaluable commodities.
Sireesha's journey epitomises the transformative potential of research and education in confronting global challenges, particularly in combating climate change. Her commitment to advancing CCU technologies not only enhances scientific understanding but also offers tangible solutions towards a sustainable future. As she embarks on this transformative educational experience, Sireesha stands ready to leverage her newfound insights and expertise to address pressing challenges in catalysis and contribute significantly to sustainable technological advancements.
Her selection for the Andrew Legacy Bursary marks a significant milestone in her academic and professional development, illuminating a path towards future achievements in the field of catalysis and environmental stewardship.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to IChemE and celebrate the legacy of Professor Syd Andrew for the invaluable opportunity afforded to Sireesha.
