Welcoming a new member to Korean Studies PhD cohort
Please join us in welcoming our new PhD student Danae Smith!
Danae completed her undergraduate studies in Korean Studies and a Masters of Applied Linguistics focusing on ideologies of English in South Korean print media. She continued her study of Korean language at Yonsei University KLI through the Hamer Scholarship program. Outside of her studies, she has worked in Korean companies located both in Melbourne and Seoul and pursued a number of Korea-related hobbies including Taekwondo and, more recently, Minyo. Danae will begin a PhD in Korean Studies from Monday 20 February 2025 through which she intends to investigate perceived social and structural barriers to accessing mental health care in South Korea.
