Critical Minerals Consortium
Monash led the establishment of the Critical Minerals Consortium (CMC) to improve our understanding of minerals criticality and to provide advice, ideas and expertise to assist policymakers. The CMC is particularly interested in understanding the reliability of global supply chains for minerals and mineral-derived raw materials.
Mine Rehabilitation Group
Monash University is one of the largest research providers in Australia and has the extensive cross-disciplinary capacity to develop strategic mine closure and rehabilitation solutions. Monash currently works in partnership with the Australian mining industry to address mine closure and rehabilitation challenges.
Tailings Group
The Monash University Tailings Group brings together researchers committed to identifying and developing sustainable improvements to conventional mine tailings storage, as well as innovative alternatives to conventional storage. Its current focus is on improvements to conventional mine tailings storage involves a suite of innovations that apply throughout the tailings storage facility (TSF) life cycle.
