First Australia-India Critical Minerals Workshop at IIT Bombay

On March 3-4, the ‘Australia India Consortium on Critical Minerals Research Hub (AICMRH)’ team conducted the first Indo-Australian joint workshop at IIT Bombay in March 3-4 to discuss the way forward in the India-Australia Critical Minerals partnership. This workshop was funded by IIT Bombay under the Institute of Eminence program. The workshop report with key recommendations was submitted to the Hon. Pralhad Joshi, Minister for Mines, and Mr Vivek Bharadwaj, Secretary (Mines) in the presence of Professor Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director, IIT Bombay.

The Ministry of Mines, Government of India has published the first-ever critical minerals list, including the establishment of a Critical Minerals Center of Excellence for research in all five stages - exploration, processing, metallurgy, technology development, and recycling.
