The following entry requirements apply to students transferring through the B.Tech IT and B.Tech CSE pathways.

Students must complete all pre-approved units at VIT to receive the agreed credit at Monash.

Students must achieve an overall average of 6 out of 10 CGPA for the required units completed at VIT as specified in the agreement. The successful completion of the first 4 semesters or 2 years of the B.Tech program at VIT is required.

Study Grant:

Eligible VIT–Monash credit transfer students will be automatically assessed for an International Partnership Study Grant of A$12,500 per year (A$6,250 per semester) for a maximum duration of two years.

At Monash, student teams, clubs and societies help students apply their learning in practical settings, build hands-on skills, and work on real-world challenges across disciplines.

For Software Engineering, opportunities include student-led work in AI and digital innovation, including projects in medical imaging and healthcare technology.These experiences also support career development through collaboration, competitions, and industry engagement.

As part of this credit transfer program arrangement, only students from Vellore and Chennai campuses can transfer.
Students from other VIT campuses in India and overseas are welcome to apply to Monash but may not be eligible for direct entry into Year 3 of the program till all pre-requisite units are checked by Monash.
A 2+2 credit transfer pathway: 2 years at VIT in India, followed by 2 years at Monash University in Australia. Students graduate with a Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) from Monash University.
Two pathways are available from the following VIT programs available at the Vellore and Chennai campuses:
- B.Tech in Information Technology
- B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering
The Monash Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) is accredited by Engineers Australia and also by the Australian Computer Society (ACS)
All students must complete all Monash-approved pre-requisite units in Year 1 and Year 2 at Vellore IT as agreed to in the partnership arrangement.
Students must achieve an overall average of 6 out of 10 CGPA for the required units completed at VIT as specified in the agreement.

The successful completion of the first 4 semesters (2 years) of the B.Tech program at VIT is required.

VIT 2026-27 Admissions for UG,PG,NRI/Foreign,Phd Programs
After successfully completing two years (4 semesters) at VIT, and achieving the required CGPA, students transfer to Monash University in Year 3.
Students will commence in the July intake at Monash University but submit their application to Monash after the completion of the third semester at VIT to allow time for admissions and student visa processing.

Yes. Students transferring to Monash must meet Australian student visa requirements before commencing study in Australia. Students are advised to use the services of a Monash-approved agent to apply for a student visa.
Yes, all eligible students from the VIT-Monash International Transfer Program are automatically assessed for an International Partnership Study Grant of A$12,500 ($6,250 per semester) per year for a maximum duration of 2 years. Students will be required to study full time.
Yes. The Monash Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) includes the FIT Industry Experience Studio Project (FIT4002) — a 12-credit unit where students work on real industry projects over Semester 2 and the summer break. The degree also includes a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirement of 420 hours, which can include vacation employment, seminars, industry visits and online learning.
