National Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week is commemorated each year from 27 May to 3 June, and is an important time for all non-Indigenous Australians to learn more about the rich Cultures of First Nations Peoples and acknowledge the true histories of Australia.
Reconciliation Week is an important time for all non-Indigenous Australians to learn more about the rich Cultures of First Nations Peoples and acknowledge the true histories of Australia.
It’s a vital chance for non-Indigenous Australians to acknowledge the many achievements of Indigenous Australians within society, and to consider how we can contribute as individuals and as a community to achieving reconciliation.

The 2024 National Reconciliation Week theme, “Now more than ever” is an encouragement for all Australians to voice their support for reconciliation in all areas of their professional and personal lives. It's a challenge calling all Australians to step forward and drive reconciliation on a daily basis.
So, how can you contribute to Reconciliation week?
You could be a champion for reconciliation within your own business unit, by organising a morning or afternoon tea, posting on Workplace in acknowledgement of National Reconciliation Week, sharing resources or inviting colleagues to attend an on-campus event. You can also head out and engage with other community events in your local area, support Indigenous businesses and educate yourself on how to be a better ally.
Reconciliation isn’t the responsibility of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. Indigenous Australians need the help of allies to help celebrate Indigenous Cultures and raise awareness of the disparities that still exist within society. But what does a good ally look like? Check out Reconciliation Australia's 20 Actions for Reconciliation for information on how to be a better ally and make your workplace a more welcoming and safe place for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
