Mungga Balard Gadhaba - Indigenous Leaders Program
Delivered by the William Cooper Institute, Mungga Balard Gadhaba – Making Us Strong Together, gifted by N’arweet Professor Carolyn Briggs, is a two-year leadership program designed for selected Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students at Monash University.
The two year program extends beyond traditional academic boundaries to incorporate first-hand experiences with leaders and members of Indigenous communities. Students will learn about historic examples of Indigenous leadership that have laid the foundation for positive change. These encounters are designed to equip participants with the necessary confidence and skills needed for effective leadership in their future endeavours.
Participants will:
- Complete Online Leap into Leadership skill development modules
- Attend three leadership masterclasses (including a regional Victoria visit)
- Opportunity to be considered for a 2-week International Study Tour connecting with Indigenous communities and cultures
- Lead one volunteering initiative for Indigenous students per year
- Graduation celebration at program completion
Outcomes:
Participants strengthen their leadership capabilities, expand their networks, enhance cultural knowledge, and grow their ability to lead in their communities and beyond.
Completion requirements:
Attendance at all program events, completion of four leadership modules, and volunteering at two Indigenous events per year.
