First Year Orientation Camp 2024

We were thrilled to organise our second annual First Year Indigenous Orientation Camp, held on beautiful Gunaikurnai Country at Camp Coolamatong.

We invited our new students to  take part in a variety of engaging and culturally significant activities. This included a series of workshops  led by Traditional Owners, visiting the Lake Tyres mission and completing the Raymond Island Koala walk.

Students were pushed out of their comfort zone, which allowed them to form new friendships and develop a strong sense of belonging in the broader Monash community - a key driver to a successful first year

The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many noting their enjoyment of meeting new people, engaging in team-building exercises, and learning from Gunaikurnai Elders. We’re excited to witness the growth of these emerging leaders and look forward to seeing them excel in their chosen fields of study. Congratulations to our new cohort.
