Support and scholarships
Whether you’re currently studying IT at Monash or wish to do so, we have a range of support programs and scholarships you may be eligible for – designed exclusively for people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
Information Technology Indigenous Merit Scholarship
Available to current and future students and valued at up to $16K, this scholarship is awarded to the two highest achieving eligible students each year.
Faculty of IT Indigenous Study Support Scholarship
Valued at up to $15K, this scholarship is available to both current and future students interested in an undergraduate or postgraduate IT degree.
Monash Indigenous Entry Scheme
Monash offers a range of admissions entry points designed to address the underrepresentation of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Australian universities.

Meet Aunty Di – our elder-in-residence
Aunty Diane Singh is a Yorta-Yorta/Wemba-Wemba elder, with connections to the Taungurung people, and is Elder in Residence at the William Cooper Institute.
With a long history working in Indigenous education, Aunty Di provides support to Monash students wanting to make connections with the local community or find out more about their own family history and connections.

If you are finding it difficult to cope with your studies or are facing issues to do with mental health, relationships, family or addictions, reach out to a Monash counsellor.
Counselling is free to all students – and 100% confidential.

The William Cooper Institute has created the Mpal app to provide you with 24/7 access to services and resources. With this app, you will be able to:
- Access 24/7 phone counselling and book appointments.
- Find emergency services on and off-campus.
- Request an on-campus security escort.
- Find security shuttle bus locations.
- Report incidents or problem behaviour.
- Get quick access to support services.

Get a taste for campus life
If you’re in Years 10 to12 and considering a degree in IT, now’s the time to get a taste of life at Monash University.
And the best way to do that is by attending the Monash Indigenous Winter Camp.
Designed to give you true insight into what it’s like to study IT at Monash, this fun experience will also give you the opportunity to meet people, build your confidence, practise your team building skills and so much more.

Discover your accommodation options
Whether you’re located in a regional area or looking for accommodation for any other reason, we have a range of residential options on-campus. The Clayton campus is home to most of our on-campus accommodation. However if you are studying at the Caulfield campus you are still welcome to apply for accommodation at Clayton. Your two main options are as follows:
Clayton Residential Village
Traditional Halls of residence and shared apartments with private bedrooms and shared kitchens, bathrooms and lounges.
Clayton Urban Community
Self-contained studio apartments with all the facilities you need including a private ensuite bathroom and kitchenette.
