"Misogyny" Speech Signed By Julia Gillard
"I will not be lectured about sexism and misogyny by this man... If he wants to know what misogyny looks like in modern Australia, he doesn't need a motion in the House of Representatives, he needs a mirror."
In 2012, in an impassioned attack on her opponent, the then opposition leader, now P M Tony Abbott, Australia's first female Prime Minister called time on the sexists who had made her time in office a misery. The speech was an electric bolt firing a charge into a population of women and men, who had never heard a woman in power speak of sexism. Gillard spoke for so many women with the crashing crescendo of I was offended.
Occasionally in politics you hit the sweet spot, when not only do the words hit the target with laser-like precision, but their truth is recognised by a surprised audience. So the ‘I will not be lectured by this man' speech echoed around tearooms and boardrooms. Women and girls watched it whooping and punching the air as they heard Australia's prime minister put into words what they had been struggling against all their working lives. Millions watched it here and overseas on YouTube.
This copy of her most famous speech, reported around the world, is signed by Julia Gillard.
The document is a rare collector's item, framed for posterity
Our sincere thanks goes to Mary Delahunty for her work in securing the donation.
Value $5,000

The Australian Constitution signed by The Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG, Including a Quote on Human Rights
When he retired from the High Court of Australia in February 2009, Michael Kirby was Australia's longest serving judge. In 2013 he was appointed by the President of the UN Human Rights Council to head the Commission of Inquiry on Human Rights Violations in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
This copy of the Constitution is signed by Mr Kirby, along with a quote from his famous dissent in the Al Kateb v Godwin case: ""it is incorrect, with respect, to say that Australian courts, including this Court, have no function in finding "rights" in the text of the Constitution".
The document is unbound so that the winning bidder can choose how to preserve it.

Apology to Stolen Generations, signed by Kevin Rudd
On 13 February 2008, the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd moved a motion of Apology to Indigenous Australians of the "Stolen Generation", a group who in past decades had been removed from their birth parents and placed in foster care under government-sanctioned policy.
Kevin Rudd became the first Australian Prime Minister to publicly apologize to the Stolen Generations on behalf of the Australian federal government. The speech in Parliament was watched by hundreds of parliamentarians, former prime ministers and representatives of the indigenous community.
The framed copy of the apology is autographed by Kevin Rudd.

Peter Fitzsimons Books and Signed Bandana
Peter FitzSimons is a well-respected columnist for The Sydney Morning Herald and Sun-Herald, speaks four languages, has played rugby for Australia, co-hosted radio shows, interviewed famous people around the globe from George Bush to Diego Maradona and written 25 best-selling books.
"Eureka: The Unfinished Revolution" a ripping good yarn overview of the Eureka rebellion at Ballarat in 1854, Australia's only civil armed uprising against government. Was this rebellion a fledgling nation's first attempt to assert its independence under colonial rule? Or was it merely rabble-rousing by unruly miners determined not to pay their taxes
"Batavia" set on The Batavia and combining in just the one tale the birth of the world's first corporation, the brutality of colonisation, the battle of good vs evil, the derring-do of sea-faring adventure, mutiny, ship-wreck, love, lust, blood-lust, petty fascist dictatorship, criminality, a reign of terror, murders most foul, sexual slavery, natural nobility, survival, retribution, rescue, first contact with native peoples and so much more.
On his trademark bandanna "When I'm outside, it keeps the sun off. And when it's cold, it keeps my head warm. And when I'm in a slightly volatile situation, I feel stronger. I feel, "Don't mess with me."

"Gravity" signed by Mary Delahunty
Julia Gillard, Australia's 27th Prime Minister, defied political gravity. From the start she walked a political tightrope. As Australia's first female Prime Minister, leading a minority government corroded by internal treachery, Julia Gillard juggled this trifecta defying political gravity for 3 years and 3 days. How did she do it? Why did she fascinate an international audience? In this exclusive insider account, award-winning journalist Mary Delahunty teases out the personal from the political.
Mary Delahunty is a Gold Walkley Award winning journalist and presenter with ABC TV and commercial networks. She served for 7 years as a Victorian state government minister in senior portfolios and has seen the tensions from both sides. She is currently working as a consultant in government, media and the non-for profit sector where she heads numerous boards.

"My Story" Signed by Julia Gillard
This is Julia Gillard's chronicle of that turbulent time, a strikingly candid self-portrait of a political leader seeking to realise her ideals.
It is her story of what it was like - in the face of government in-fighting and often hostile media - to manage a hung parliament, build a diverse and robust economy, create an equitable and world-class education system, ensure a dignified future for Australians with disabilities, all while attending to our international obligations and building strategic alliances for our future.
Here, in her own words, Julia Gillard reveals what life was really like as Australia's first female prime minister.

Signed Copy of "In The Company of Cowards" by Dan Mori
On a beautiful, balmy evening in Cuba in 2007, David Hicks walked out of Guantanamo Bay, in that moment ceasing to be a detainee of the United States and regaining his rights as an Australian citizen. Watching on was the man who had fought for four long years for Hicks's right to go home: Major Michael Mori.
A firm believer in the importance of due process, Mori had grown increasingly alarmed by how the military and the US and Australian governments were handling the Hicks case, and others like it. Why was a distinction being made between 'unlawful combatants' and 'prisoners of war'? Why was the Australian government refusing to intervene for one of its people? And what specific crime - if any - had Hicks allegedly committed that deserved years of incarceration without trial?
What followed was a long struggle for justice, and one man's gradual disillusionment with the institution that he had signed up to fight for. Michael Mori rallied the support of the Australian people as he exposed an unfair system, changing the way we saw our government and the War on Terror.

Tobacco Plain Packaging Act signed by Nicola Roxon
"There is not a single or small amount of tobacco that it is safe to smoke. It is a killer product. There is no other legal product that is on sale that currently so much is known about the damage that it unequivocally causes."
Nicola Roxon
Spearheaded by Nicola Roxon during her term as Federal Minister for Health and Aging, this ground-breaking act requires that all tobacco products sold, offered for sale, or otherwise supplied in Australia must be in plain packaging.
Her later role as Federal Attorney-General saw her again take on Big Tobacco, this time in the High Court over the plain packaging laws that she had successfully steered through Parliament as Health Minister.

The antithesis of a "happy snapper" Thomas will travel hundreds of kilometres to take just one photo, capturing a moment which underlies a longer story.
Many of his works suggest a serenity which results from his particular interest in long exposure photography.

Wines
Mixed Dozen of Hurley Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012
Hurley Vineyard is a specialist Pinot Noir vigneron located in Balnarring on the Mornington Peninsula with Supreme Court Justice Kevin Bell as winemaker.
Mixed case of Hurley Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012 with four bottles each of the Lodestone, Hommage and Garamond wines.
Lodestone is the warmest of the single vineyards, and is always harvested first. Accordingly, the wine can be powerful and concentrated, but not coarse or extracted. Its four clones enhance its natural complexity. Lodestone is earthy to the nose and sweet to the palate. It is usually moreish and satisfying. The fruit is darker in character than Hommage and Garamond, and the tannins more evident, reflecting the heavier, rockier, clayey soil. There is often a hint of dried sage.
Hommage is harvested second. Typically, it smells distinctly of ripe plums and the forest floor. It can have the subtle fragrance of flowers. Invariably it tastes of wine gums and jubes. You can always see soft, squishy berries, like mulberries, and firmer ones, like blueberries. The fermenting vats actually smell and taste that way! Hommage tastes more of fruit than earth. It is full and supple in the palate, but not loose. Our emphasis now is more on the freshness of the fruit - the point where the sweetness is balanced by velvety tannins. It is often described as ‘Burgundian'.
Garamond exudes effortless style. It ripens evenly and is always harvested last. It is classical. In this wine, the fragrance of Hurley Vineyard is the perfume of the boudoir. It is a step up in complexity and intensity. In the palate, there is usually an array of soft, red fruits, plus meat, mushrooms and cake spice. It is succulent, creamy and sweet, but balanced by lively acidity. The wine usually tastes of red minerals and has fine, silky tannins. There is often toffee. The palate is typically tight and firm in its youth, opening up as time goes on. Garamond is complete, ends fresh and lives long.
Value $650
A Dozen Balnarring Estate 2013 Pinot Poir
Vibrant nose, filled with red fruits, florals and earth. The palate has a lithe structure with supple tannin and cherry fruit savour on the finish.
There are 17 acres of vineyard on the 40 acre property which homes the Quealy Winery & Cellar Door. The property slopes gently to the North, and is on a duplex soil with marginal drainage. The vineyard is the top half of the property and is planted with Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, Friulano, Moscato Giallo, Riesling & Chardonnay.
The vineyard drains to a dam that is home to many wild birds, turtles, fish and yabbies. The remaining property, once an abandoned orchard has over the last 10 years begun to restore itself, smothering the blackberry with native Goodenia ovate and renewing the vegetation with a march of tea tree, blackwood and swamp gums; underneath there is an array of orchids and smaller flowering shrubs.
