We are excited to welcome a group of outstanding new academics whose expertise will enrich the Castan Centre’s research, teaching, and public engagement across a diverse range of human rights and social justice issues.

Dr Sarah Brugler's expertise spans property law, biodiversity law, and environmental law, especially conservation practices.

Dr Pascale Chifflet specialises in international criminal law, evidence law, and criminal procedure.

Associate Professor Cristy Clark’s research explores the intersection of human rights and the environment, including legal geography, Indigenous rights, and the commons.

Dr Timnah Baker is a legal scholar whose expertise spans constitutional law and human rights.

Dr Brad Jessup is a human geographer and environmental law specialist whose research and teaching span disciplines within the legal geography tradition.

Clement Ng focuses on children’s rights, youth justice, criminal law, and Indigenous justice.

Dr Danish Sheikh's work examines the intersections of law, performance, and social justice.

Emily Singh, previously a Faculty colleague and community legal centre lawyer, brings expertise in administrative law, including social security, refugee, and immigration law, alongside broader social justice practice.

Associate Professor Malcolm Smith joins with expertise encompassing health and medical law, torts, and bioethics.

We look forward to working with these exceptional colleagues, whose expertise enriches the Centre across criminal justice reform, global health law, environmental and Indigenous rights, children and youth justice, and the intersections of law, performance, and social justice.
