Our campuses
Intelligent Energy Networks
Our Digital Buildings initiative is designed to better manage data from our large building portfolio. It will help our facilities team to make sense of building data from a broad mix of devices and systems installed in these buildings.
Net Zero buildings
To prepare ourselves for the move to 100 per cent renewable energy, we're re-thinking the design of our new buildings and retro-fitting our old buildings to be state-of-the-art spaces for comfort and performance.
Net Zero transport
Our Net Zero Transport Initiative/program aims to make our campuses more accessible, improve the range of zero-emission transport opportunities available, implement policy frameworks and incentives to encourage commuters to choose low emissions transport options, and invest in high-quality carbon-removal offsets to negate the effect of residual transport emissions.
Renewable Energy generation
Our aim is to power all our campuses from renewable sources, ensuring net zero emissions from our infrastructure and operations.
Solar panels
We have completed a large roll out of solar panel installations across our campuses. So far, more than 12,000 panels have been installed since 2015. Since 2015, we have increased our solar capacity by 860 per cent to 4.8 Megawatt (MW).
Murra Warra Wind Farm
We've signed a long term power purchase agreement with the Murra Warra Wind Farm in western Victoria, to buy both electricity production and large scale renewable energy certificates (LGCs) generated by the farm. Construction of the wind farm was completed in 2019, and is now operational. This investment in wind energy provides Monash with 33 MW of renewable power, with total renewable energy generation being greater than Monash’s total usage on an annual basis.
