Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response Policy suite

The prevention of sexual harm is a top priority for Monash. Since the publication of the Change the Course Report in 2017 and the National Student Safety Survey results in 2021 regarding students’ experiences of sexual assault and sexual harassment, Monash has enhanced our support services and reporting pathways and embedded a range of prevention initiatives to support the safety and wellbeing of students, staff and the wider Monash community.

The new Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response Policy suite, effective as of 13 November 2024, sets out Monash’s approach to preventing and responding to sexual harm, including the process for seeking support and disclosing or reporting sexual harm to Monash.

The policy suite comprises the following:

The policy outlines the guiding principles, roles and responsibilities relating to sexual harm prevention and response at Monash.

The procedure and schedule provide guidance on how to make a disclosure or report of sexual harm and where to go for help or support, and how Monash will respond to reports  from both students and staff.

This suite is a key part of Monash’s Strategic Commitment to Gender-based Violence and Sexual Harm Prevention and Response 2024 - 2030.

All Monash policies, procedures and schedules can be found on the Monash Policy Bank.
