MRFF

Overview

The Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) is a $25 billion investment fund supporting health and medical research and innovation to improve lives, build the economy and ensure a sustainable health system. The MRFF 3rd 10-year investment plan has committed $6.5 billion to fund health and medical research across 22 initiatives from 2024-25 to 2033-34.

Governed by the independent Australian Medical Research Advisory Board, the MRFF sets national research strategies and prioritiesThe MRFF prioritizes consumer involvement and the translation of research into practice to deliver benefits for all Australians. Schemes within an initiative can vary significantly from opportunity to opportunity, and within individual opportunities there can be streams and topics that ask for projects that can vary substantially in scope, area of research and project stage.

Grant opportunities are released throughout the year and administered by either the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) or the Department of Industry Science and Resources (DISR). Each portal has its own application form and submission process.
