VCE Psychology Sleep Program

Turner Institute’s VCE Psychology Sleep Program brings experts in sleep science into the classroom, giving your students a head start on the VCE Psychology Unit 4 curriculum.

Run by Monash University’s Healthy Sleep Clinic, the Turner Institute VCE Psychology Sleep Program provides a unique opportunity for VCE Psychology students to learn the critical concepts about sleep science from experts in the field.

Our incursion program involves a comprehensive 1.5- hour sleep education session for schools who are looking to give their students the edge on the sleep curriculum as part of Unit 4 VCE Psychology.

The program has been developed in alignment with the current VCE curriculum to ensure your students are getting the most from their experience with us.

During the 1.5-hour classroom session, our educators will cover:

  • The purpose of sleep
  • Normal sleep patterns
  • Identification of sleep stages and how these are interpreted using EEG, EOG and EMG
  • The effects of sleep deprivation and recovery sleep
  • Adolescent sleep patterns.

Plus…a real time demonstration

The real-time demonstration is what makes our program so unique.

During the incursion, a volunteer student will be wired up to our portable sleep diagnostic device, and the class will have the opportunity observe their brain waves (EEG), eye movements (EOG), heart (ECG) and muscle tone (EMG) in real time.

Availability and class sizes

Sessions are available during school hours Monday to Friday during the school term.

Where possible we will try to accommodate your preferred dates and time, but we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

The program runs best with a maximum of 40 students in the class. To accommodate more students, we can run consecutive sessions at the school on the same day.


  • $18 per student.
  • Minimum fee of $320 per booking (Minimum 20 students)
