The research seeks to understand how graduates of creative arts programs in Australia and China build creative vocations, investigating the motivations for, and rewards of, unpaid cultural work in Melbourne and Shanghai. The research will help us understand creative career trajectories in the first ten years out of college, and how curriculum development might respond. (with University of Canberra)
This research looks at the changing dynamics of the cultural economy, particularly the emergent relationships with a complex urban manufacturing sector. This project aims to identify new directions for urban cultural policy by conducting international comparative research around the emerging nexus between the cultural industries and manufacturing. The results will yield essential new insights into urban industry dynamics and fundamentally transform how we conceptualise urban cultural policy in Australia. Cases include Inner North Melbourne; Marrickville, Sydney; Brisbane; Los Angeles; New York; Berlin; and Shenzhen. (with QUT and University of Wollongong).
