Semester 1
Tuesday 9 June 12:00-1:00pm

Session 6: Reflection with AI

In this session Paul will share his experience using generative AI as a feedback tool in a final-year law unit on technology and innovation. He encouraged students to use AI to evaluate their draft essays against the marking rubric and reflect on areas for improvement. While only a few students took up the challenge, the results highlighted valuable insights about learning, motivation, and how AI can support critical reflection in legal education.

AI in Practice: Using generative AI to spark creativity in research classrooms.

This hands-on workshop is designed to transform how you think about creativity in the classroom, with a specific focus on the transformative power of generative AI. We will start by showcasing practical examples of how generative AI has been integrated in several units to inspire student artwork, poetry, and storytelling.

The session will culminate in an experiential activity in which you will use Gemini to inspire your own creativity, giving you a firsthand look at how generative AI can engage students, amplify their creative voices, and foster purposeful learning through play.

AI in Practice: Using NotebookLM as a moderation space for marking with teaching teams.

NotebookLM offers a practical way to bring all your unit documentation together in one intelligent, queryable workspace, and this session shows you exactly how to build one.

In this hands-on session, you'll explore how NotebookLM can support teaching teams, drawing on a real example from a Monash unit. By uploading documents like the marking rubric, task explanations, work samples, policies, and AI guidelines into a single notebook, teaching teams can query those materials directly, getting consistent, grounded support for marking and moderation.

Whether you're looking to support marker calibration, onboard casual staff quickly, or reduce the back-and-forth around assessment queries for large teaching teams, this session will give you a clear, replicable model you can adapt for your own units.
