Mastering Moodle - Next Steps

Overview

Moodle is Monash’s Learning Management System (LMS) and your central platform for learning and teaching. It offers tools for sharing resources, communication, collaboration, and assessment. Understanding the capabilities of Moodle and navigating the system is essential for Moodle unit creation.

This module provides support for specific activities and settings within Moodle to enhance the learner experience.

It covers the following topics:

  1. Structuring your Moodle unit
  2. Moodle quizzes
  3. Moodle groups and groupings
  4. Moodle books

Given the flexibility of this module, it suits Moodle users of all competency levels.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this module, you will be able to:

  1. Identify the key components and capabilities of Moodle.
  2. Explore additional functionality of Moodle and apply your skill development to your teaching.
  3. Articulate the benefits of using a clear learning pathway in your Moodle unit.
  4. Apply learning design principles to create a smooth and engaging Moodle unit page.

Assessment

The assessment will be based on applying knowledge learned from two topics selected from the topics listed above:

  1. Assessment Task 1: Set up an activity or resource in your Moodle unit using the guidelines provided.
  2. Assessment Task 2: 150 word reflection on your practice.
