Test driving AI for teaching and learning

Overview

As new technologies are developed, they offer both risks and potential for advancing teaching and learning practices. This module supports the measured and critical exploration and reflective application of AI tools and platforms, within rapidly evolving contexts.

The module responds to Sarah Howard and Jo Tondeur’s 2022 call for capabilities in a world with AI including that:

“...a key capability of teachers will be to critically engage with new technologies and consider them in relation to learning experiences and their own teacher work. This requires teachers to have some level of data literacy, specifically how to make decisions about which tools to use and for what purposes… a further capability will be institutions' data infrastructure and support capabilities to enable teachers to trial and experiment with new digital tools in real learning environments.”
(Markauskaite et al., 2022)

The module supports educators to explore, evaluate and trial new tools while advancing your understanding of critical and responsible use of evolving tools and identifying their potential and risks within teaching and learning.
