Recognition modules
GETTING RECOGNISED FOR PROFESSIONAL LEARNING
If you’re completing a professional learning activity through your Faculty or Portfolio, it may be part of the MEA Recognition Program. This means your learning can be formally recognised and count toward your annual professional development requirement.
This page explains how recognition works, what you need to do, and how your participation is recorded.
WHAT IS A RECOGNITION MODULE?
A recognition module is a component of your professional learning activity set up in Moodle. It gives you:
- A place to submit a short assessment task, like a reflection, artefact, or short response
- Clear instructions for completing the activity and having it recognised
- A myDevelopment record once you’ve completed the requirements
This module has been set up by the team that’s running your professional development – often your faculty, department, or another area within Monash.
HOW MANY PROFESSIONAL LEARNING POINTS IS IT WORTH?
The number of points for your activity is shown at the top of your recognition module in Moodle. These points help contribute to your annual requirement for professional development.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO BE RECOGNISED?
To have your learning formally recognised:
- Engage fully with the activity – Attend the sessions or complete the asynchronous components, as directed by your facilitator.
- Submit your assessment task in Moodle – Your activity includes a short task that demonstrates what you’ve learned or applied. This might be a reflection, a revised teaching activity, or another artefact.
- Wait for your submission to be reviewed – Once you have received a 'satisfactory' mark on all assessments, you have completed the content.
- Check for the 'Completion confirmation ' message – Once you have received this message, you have successfully completed the recognition module.

WHEN WILL MYDEVELOPMENT BE UPDATED?
Once your submission has been marked complete by the facilitator or activity lead, the MEA team will record your completion. This usually happens within 10 business days after you have completed the recognition module.
This will show in your myDevelopment training record.
