| Tuesday 6 October 12:00-1:00pm | AI in Practice: Sem 2, Session 5 Using GenAI tools to support consistency between multiple assessors marking take-home assessments Generative AI offers new opportunities to design practical tools that support marking and feedback, even for educators with little or no coding experience. In this session, we will showcase two marking tools developed with the support of GenAI to support greater consistency in marking and feedback across multiple assessors in large cohorts, and unpack the thinking behind their design. Central to both examples is a simple principle: we are not automating judgement; we are automating the assembly of feedback. Assessment decisions remain with the marker, while feedback is drawn from human-developed feedback banks aligned with the assessment criteria, providing a shared foundation across assessors. We will explore how GenAI can help turn these educator-designed processes into functional tools, and provide participants with a practical starting point for thinking about how similar approaches could support their own marking practices. | Tuesday 10 Nov 12:00-1:00pm | AI in Practice: Sem 2, Session 7 Writing in conversation with AI - a process driven approach Effective writing with generative AI requires a deliberate personal process. In this interactive session, Brendan demonstrates how to develop your own approach using real-world examples showing how he uses AI to shape ideas, draft, test structure and flow, and make editing decisions. You'll have hands-on time to experiment with these workflows, reflect on what changes when AI becomes a thought partner rather than a text generator, and explore how to retain your authentic voice, judgement, and sense of authorship.
